The Republic of Ireland international has entered the final 12 months of his contract and appeared to be heading out of the King Power Stadium not all that long ago.
He was informed by the Foxes at the end of last season that he was free to move on as the club looked to cut costs.
St Ledger has, however, remained part of the set-up at the King Power Stadium and is now setting his sights on the penning of fresh terms.
He told the Leicester Mercury: "I got told at the end of last season that I was surplus to requirements. But I have come back in and just have to get on with it.
"There have been a lot of changes at the club for this new rule on finance, and the club is having to make a lot of cutbacks.
"The manager has just told me to get on with it and to give my all for the club in the time I have here.
"I have a year left on my contract and I have never said that I wanted to leave. I only ever wanted to play. This is a great club, I am from the midlands and there are a great set of lads here.
"I am very, very happy but if the club don't want me then what can I do?
"We will see what happens. I want to earn myself a new contract."
