Sprockel has always been held in high regard, but a back injury hampered his progress which resulted in Feyenoord loaning him to Excelsior.
The defender has proved a reliable performer in the last two seasons for Excelsior, but his efforts are unlikely to result in a return to De Kuip.
Sprockel's performances have clearly caught the eye, with Division Two outfit Barnsley having compiled a sizeable dossier on him.
The defender is still contracted to Feyenoord until 2005, but it would appear as if he will have options in the summer if the Rotterdam titans opt to let him leave.
Excelsior seem set fair to secure a place in De Eredivisie, which could persuade Sprockel to stay on.
However, the lure of testing himself in England, albeit at a lower level, could prompt the 20-year-old to move to Oakwell should Barnsley come calling.
