Stags boss Keith Curle has signed trialists Alex Neil and Scott McNiven (pictured) to one-year contracts while Chris Tate has agreed a short-term deal with the Nottinghamshire-based outfit.
The trio have been handed the opportunity to extend their deals with the League Two club in the future after all three were out of contract at last season's end.
"These initial terms are a good opportunity to see if we are good for the player and if they are good for the club," Curle told the club's official website.
"The players will have to ask themselves if they can further their careers at this football club and in my opinion the answer is yes.
"The extensions, like all other areas in this club, are success-related and this is more than football common sense, it is business sense."
Neil left League One side Barnsley while McNiven rejected the offer of a new contract with Oxford United before joining The Stags.
Striker Tate, meanwhile, was made surplus to requirements by Leyton Orient boss Martin Ling at the end of last term.
The trio are set to be joined by goalkeeper Kevin Pilkington and defender Alex Baptiste, who have been offered contract extensions at Field Mill.
Pilkington has been offered a further 12 months to his deal while Baptiste a been given a further two years to his Stags contract.
