Barnsley have joined the chase for Swindon Town midfielder Brian Howard.Barnsley have joined the chase for Brian Howard but Bournemouth remain favourites to sign the Swindon Town midfielder.
Howard is set to leave The County Ground when his contract expires in the summer after two years with The Robins.
He has already discussed a deal with Bournemouth and has expressed a willingness to return to the South Coast.
But the former Southampton trainee also has Barnsley on his trail, with Tykes boss Andy Ritchie keen to press for promotion next term.
Howard confirmed the interest from Oakwell and hopes to make a decision on his future within the next week, suggesting Bournemouth is his preferred destination.
"There has been some more interest and, yes, Barnsley are one of the clubs involved," Howard told the Swindon Evening Advertiser.
"I'm hoping things can be sorted out future-wise in the next five to six days.
"I quite fancy Bournemouth if I can get down there because they are a good footballing side and living down south would be perfect for me."
