Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie has offered striker Marc Richards a one-year deal.Barnsley boss Andy Ritchie has offered striker Marc Richards a one-year contract with the League One club.
The former Northampton Town hit-man has been on trial with The Tykes and has seemingly done enough to earn an offer from the Oakwell club.
The 23-year-old had trained with League Two side Bristol Rovers this summer before opting to look elsewhere following his release from The Sixfields Stadium at the end of last season.
Ritchie remains hopeful he can add Richards to his South Yorkshire squad in the near future.
"We have offered Marc a contract here and we will have to wait and see what his answer is," Ritchie told the club's official website.
"He has other offers on the table from other clubs so we will have to see if he wants to play here.
"There is no rush because Marc is not contracted to any club and the deal would not have to be done before the deadline."
Ritchie has also extended the trial of former Manchester City youngster Jamie Tandy as he attempts to win a Barnsley contract.
Argentine defender Alessandro Melono, however, has left the club after his trial spell with The Tykes.
