Tykes learn Hayes cost

Paul Hayes' move from Scunthorpe could end up costing Barnsley £150,000.

Paul Hayes' move from Scunthorpe United to Oakwell could end up costing Barnsley £150,000.

The striker joined The Tykes on a two-year contract in the summer after his deal with Scunthorpe expired.

The two clubs could not concur on a fee and, because Hayes is 21-years-old, the figure was decided by a tribunal.

Scunthorpe will now receive an initial payment of £75,000 from their League One rivals, with another £25,000 to follow after 15 games.

A further £25,000 must be paid after 30 games and the same amount must be stumped up by The Tykes after Hayes has played 45 games.

The Iron will also be entitled to 15 percent of any future transfer fee but they must pay Hayes' former club Norwich City 20 percent of this deal.

Since moving to Oakwell from Glanford Park, Hayes has scored twice in seven appearances, with one of his goals in a 2-1 defeat to Scunthorpe.
