Barnsley have signed Republic of Ireland international midfielder Colin Healy.
Barnsley have finally completed the signing of Republic of Ireland international midfielder Colin Healy.
The 26-year-old has put pen to paper on a one-year contract with The Tykes after a successful pre-season trial with the Championship outfit.
The former Celtic, Sunderland and Livingston player concurred on terms last week before completing his medical with the Oakwell club on Monday.
Healy joins Michael Coulson, Sam Togwell and Michael McIndoe in making the switch to the South Yorkshire club.
With Healy needing international clearance from the Scottish FA, Tykes boss Andy Ritchie hopes to have the midfielder available for Saturday's clash at Colchester United.
Following the completion of his move, Healy expressed his delight at finally signing on with The Tykes.
"Joining this club was an easy decision really," Healy told the club's official website.
"Barnsley are a Championship side, it is still a big club and that was what really attracted me here.
"The whole club has impressed me from the first day I came here. I knew some of the lads already, but we have some quality footballers in the dressing room.
"I know that I will have to work extremely hard in training to get a starting place, but I am always up for a challenge."
