Barnsley have added Grant McCann to the signings of Kyel Reid and Ronnie Wallwork.
Barnsley have added to the deadline day captures of Kyel Reid and Ronnie Wallwork by bringing in Cheltenham midfielder Grant McCann.
The Northern Ireland international joins The Tykes on an initial loan deal but will pen a permanent contract when the transfer window opens on January 1, subject to agreeing personal terms.
McCann has established himself as one of League One's best midfielders and once managerless Barnsley made their interest known, it took him precious little time to make up his mind.
"It was a hectic time and everything always seems to go down to the last minute but I am really pleased to get things sorted," he told the club's official website.
"I cannot wait to get my first game for Barnsley.
"I cannot wait to play and it is something I am really looking forward to. I know that I have to do well in training and impress enough to get my chance in the team.
"It was hard to leave Cheltenham and I am really sad about it in a way because it has been such a good place for me.
"I was really looked after there and loved every minute. I cannot say a bad word about them - it has been my home for the last three years and my family are there but I need to move on. I want to fulfil my potential and do well in The Championship."
Barnsley have been one of the busiest clubs in Thursday's transfer window and it is expected Swansea's Leon Knight could become the club's fourth signing of the day.
