Barnsley defender Robbie Williams could still secure a move to Huddersfield.
Barnsley defender Robbie Williams could still secure a move to Huddersfield despite failing a medical due to a hairline fracture in his shin.
Williams had looked set to move to the Galpharm stadium after agreeing a three-year deal, but Town boss Andy Ritchie admits the move is currently 'dead in the water' following the discovery of the injury.
But Ritchie remains keen to secure Williams' signature and hopes to revive the deal when the player recovers.
"We've had two meetings about the situation," he told the club's official website.
"We've had all the relevant people involved, all the coaching staff, Gerry Murphy and (chief executive) Andrew Watson, to try and thrash out how we move forward from the bad news regarding Robbie's hairline fracture.
"We've got a few possible scenarios, but for the minute it's dead in the water.
"However, I'm still hopeful we can resurrect it as soon as he's fit again and we will be discussing it with the board at our next regular meeting, which happens to be on Wednesday."
