Ibehre primed for Us battle

Jabo Ibehre say he would not have signed for Colchester if he did not believe they had the quality to beat the drop.

Ibehre completed his switch from MK Dons to the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Tuesday on a free transfer, having spent just shy of three months on loan at the club before Christmas. His tally of four strikes in 14 league starts is still enough to top the U's scoring chart, and the Essex outfit could desperately do with more of his goals to drag themselves out of the drop zone. Eleven defeats in the club's last 12 league games has seen them plummet to 21st in the table, although they remain just two points from safety. Ibehre told Colchester's official website: "It's going to be a good challenge, both for me as an individual and for us as a team. "And I'm sure it will come down to more than just the team, we'll need the whole squad to be pulling together to pull ourselves away from the relegation zone. "I wouldn't have come here if I didn't think we could do well and we have enough quality in the squad to get out of trouble. "The next few months are massive for us and every game will be important. I'm confident in the ability in the squad though and I'm sure that if we play as well as I know we can, we'll win more than we lose."
