Mike Phelan says he is considering an offer to become permanent manager at Hull but is reluctant to commit until there is more news on the possible takeover of the club.
The Tigers are currently eighth in the Premier League table going into Saturday's game at home to Arsenal, with interim boss Phelan having guided them to seven points from their opening four top-flight fixtures.
It took a stoppage-time Marcus Rashford winner for Manchester United to prevent Hull from boasting an unbeaten start to the season and Phelan has been named Premier League manager of the month for August.
But, with a new consortium having entered the bidding to take over at Hull this week, Phelan is waiting for the ownership of the club to be resolved.
"I don't see it (my position) as an overriding concern," said Phelan.
"I think it is an issue that everybody else wants sorted out. The players do, I think the staff do that I am working with.
"But it is down to the owners. We have an owner, we have a family that owns this football club.
"They have put a proposition to me, which I need to think about and discuss before I take things further.
"We have had a week of trying to sort things out and we are still at that stage.
"Nothing has transpired which has made me put pen to paper yet.
"It's one of those things where there is still the background of takeovers and non-takeovers and I have found myself in the middle of that in trying to sort out my future.
"There have been discussions this week and there will be future discussions, probably after the game and into next week but the immediate job I have to do is pick a team to take on Arsenal."
The club's owners, Assem and Ehab Allam, have opened talks with the new group of investors which is being led by Chinese businessman Chien Lee.
That appears to have led to a further delay for Phelan as he waits to find out if he will be offered the opportunity to lead the Tigers on a permanent basis.
"It is part of the issue but I don't know who is involved anymore and how far these discussions have gone," he said of the latest proposed takeover.
"Everything seems to come back to a deal or non-deal, depending on who's in charge.
"That is possibly a frustrating thing from my point of view but it's irrelevant when football matches come [around]."
