Hartlepool are almost certainties for promotion and they are desperate to secure the first trophy in their history - but their recent form is threatening to derail their title push.
Graham Hyde's (pictured) seventh minute goal at the Memorial Stadium was enough to give Bristol Rovers victory - and inflict Hartlepool's third defeat in six games.
The win is a major boost to Rovers who are now two points clear of the relegation zone.
Rushden failed to really capitalise on Hartlepool's loss as they could only draw at Boston United.
The Pilgrims opened the scoring through Graeme Jones who scored on his Boston debut just after the hour mark.
Duane Darby levelled matters however for Rushden when he pounced after 79 minutes.
Scunthorpe saw their automatic promotion hopes suffer a huge blow with their shock home loss to Darlington.
Young midfielder star Clark Keltie grabbed the Quakers' winner with less than ten minutes left.
Bournemouth were held to a surprise draw as Torquay United took away a point at Dean Court.
Tony Bedeau struck after 68 minutes to bolster the Gulls' play-off hopes, but a Simon Clist own goal in injury time prevented them from taking all three points.
A last-minute equaliser for Wrexham at The Racecourse Ground against York, deprived The Minstermen a chance to move into the top three.
Darren Edmondson struck the opener for York after six minutes, but just when they looked to have sealed victory Wrexham's top-scorer Andy Morrell struck for the Welshmen.
Macclesfield Town did their survival hopes the world of good as they secured a 1-0 win at Oxford United.
Welsh striker Matthew Tipton grabbed the only goal of the game after 39 minutes.
Two goals from George Clegg (33 and 42) gave Bury a 2-0 win over Lincoln City at Gigg Lane, a result which lifts the Shakers above the Red Imps in the table.
Swansea City remain bottom of the table after their 2-2 draw at Kidderminster Harriers.
Sam Shilton gave Kidderminster the lead after eight minutes, but Lenny Johnrose levelled matters after 22 minutes.
Adie Smith again gave the home side the lead on 32 minutes, but The Swans' Spanish midfielder Roberto Martinez grabbed the equaliser just minutes later.
Cambridge United sealed a 1-0 win at Carlisle United, through Dave Kitson's 26 minute strike.
Mark Birch was dismissed late on for The Cumbrians to seal a miserable day for the home side.
Exeter City remain in the relegation places after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Rochdale at St James Park.
Justin Walker put The Grecians ahead after 15 minutes from the penalty spot, but Paul Connor levelled the scores with another spot kick on the half-hour mark.
Hull City left it late at The Kingston Communications Stadium with both their goals in their 2-0 win over Shrewsbury, coming in the last ten minutes.
On-loan defender Jon Ostemobor put them ahead after 81 minutes and Dean Keates sealed victory in the final minute.
Southend United earned a 1-0 win over Leyton Orient at Roots Hall with the only goal of the game coming after five minutes through Mark Salter.
