FA Cup round-up B-H

Exeter City reached the FA Cup third round with a 2-1 win over Doncaster Rovers.

Conference side Exeter City have reached the third round of the FA Cup after defeating League One opponents Doncaster Rovers 2-1.

Steve Flack gave The Grecians a 1-0 lead at the break and the Devon-based non-leaguers then doubled their lead four minutes after the break through Dean Moxey.

Gregg Blundell gave Donny a chance of a replay with a goal four minutes from time, but Exeter held on to reach Sunday's lucrative third round draw.

Non-league Histon's dreams of reaching the third round were brought to an abrupt end by League Two high-flyers Yeovil Town (pictured) after a 3-1 defeat at Bridge Road.

After a goalless first half, Phil Jevons put The Glovers ahead seven minutes after the break from the penalty spot.

The visitors then doubled their lead five minutes later when Lee Johnson found the net for the Somerset club.

Histon made the tie a contest mid-way through the second half when Neil Kennedy replied for the Southern League Premier Division club.

However, Yeovil would secure their name for Sunday's draw when substitute Yemi Odubade made the final score 3-1 with a late strike.

Hartlepool United cruised their way into round three with a 5-1 demolition of Conference club Aldershot Town at Victoria Park.

Two goals each from Chris Westwood and Adam Boyd, along with a late single strike from Mark Tinkler, made it a very successful day for Neale Cooper's side, as Tim Sills's first half reply was not enough for the Hampshire non-leaguers.

Hull City made easy work of League Two side Macclesfield Town with a 4-0 win at The Kingston Communications Stadium.

A brace from Delroy Facey sent Peter Taylor's Tigers on their way to the third round, with Ryan France and Stuart Elliott adding single markers for the home side.

Boston United avoided a minor banana skin when they saw off Conference side Hereford United 3-2 at Edgar Street.

Hereford took the lead nine minutes in through Tamika Mkandawire before the League Two side pulled level on the half hour mark through Jason Lee.

Andy Kirk then secured Boston's passage to round three with two late strikes, despite Craig Stanley scoring a late consolation for The Bulls.

Ian Rush's Chester City went through to the third round with a 3-1 away win at Halifax Town.

Two goals from Michael Branch - one a penalty - sent Chester on their way while Kevin Rapley added a third for the visitors.

Neil Ross's second half strike was not enough to turn the tie around for The Shaymen.

Second half strikes from Derek Holmes and Alan Connell gave League One side Bournemouth a 2-1 home win over Conference club Carlisle United.

Craig Farrell replied late on for Paul Simpson's Cumbrians in a losing effort.

Finally, a late Scott Taylor strike gave Blackpool a 1-0 win over League One rivals Port Vale at Bloomfield Road.
