Hull City have signed midfielder Kevin Ellison for £100,000 from Chester City.Hull City have completed the signing of midfielder Kevin Ellison for £100,000 from League Two side Chester City.
The former Leicester City and Stockport County winger has put pen to paper on a two-and-a-half year contract with the League One leaders and is available for Saturday's home match against struggling Peterborough United.
The 25-year-old's move to The Kingston Communications Stadium sees him reunited with Peter Taylor - the manager that signed him at Leicester from non-league Altrincham in 2001.
"When he joined Leicester from Altrincham, it was a big step up in class, but he's come a long way as a player since," Taylor said.
"He's a big strong boy who can score goals, so we're obviously very happy to have him here."
With Ellison arriving, the deal for the Hull duo of Jonathan Walters and Richard Hinds to join Chester on loan has fallen through.
"Chester were keen to sign Jon [Walters] and Richard [Hinds], but that's not gone through now - so we'll have to wait and see with that one," Taylor added.
Meanwhile, Tigers defender Alton Thelwell has been ruled out for a further four-to-six weeks with knee trouble.
"He's got another swelling on the knee and he's been told to take it easy for another month," Taylor told the Hull Daily Mail.
"We thought it was going to be okay and now, all of a sudden, it's flared up again and it's another month.
"He won't be fit to play for another six weeks."
