Ankle op for Delaney

Hull City defender Damien Delaney will have an exploratory operation on his ankle.

Hull City defender Damien Delaney will undergo an exploratory operation on his injured ankle next week.

The former Cork City and Leicester City centre back went over on his ankle in training this week, with fears the Irishman may have suffered a fracture.

However, scans have showed that the 25-year-old has suffered no break, but that he will have exploratory surgery on the damaged leg joint on Monday.

Tigers boss Phil Parkinson says Delaney's injury is a blow to the Championship side.

"Losing Damien is a blow, but there's not a lot we can do about it," Parkinson told Hull's official website.

"He'll have the operation on Monday and we won't know the extent of the damage until then."
