Striker joins on season-long loan from Hull

Carlisle United have signed striker Michael Bridges on a season-long loan from Hull. The 29-year-old played for Carlisle earlier in his career before joining the Tigers in 2006. However, he was unable to establish himself as a regular starter and spent six months of last term in Australia with Sydney FC. Phil Brown has been busy strengthening his squad ahead of the new Premier League campaign and has decided that Bridges will not be needed. John Ward has moved quickly to bring him in and will be hoping he can fire the Cumbrians to promotion from League One. "I think this is an excellent signing for the club, and I think many other people will be feeling exactly the same way," Ward told Carlisle's official website. "He was very popular throughout his previous spell here, and I'm sure it'll be that way for him again. "Michael was desperate to come back to Brunton Park if at all possible and I'm really pleased that we were able to sort this out, both for him and for Carlisle United.
