Hull defender to miss Algeria visit in order to attend family wedding

Republic of Ireland international Paul McShane has been released from the squad to attend his sister's wedding. The Hull City defender featured for Giovanni Trappatoni's side during their creditable 2-1 win over Paraguay at the RDS Arena on Tuesday night. The Republic host Algeria at the same venue on Friday but McShane has been granted a special omission as Ireland look to inflict defeat on two World Cup-bound nations in the same week. Meanwhile, captain Robbie Keane and winger Liam Lawrence, who scored in the win over Paraguay, did not train on Wednesday after picking up knee and groin injuries respectively. However, both are expected to recover in time to make the squad, while Damien Duff's calf problem should not be enough to rule him out of the friendly.
