Curtis Davies is eager for Hull City to secure their Premier League status before a testing final week of the season.
The Tigers are currently 14th in the table, seven points clear of the bottom three with six games to play, but Steve Bruce’s side have lost four of their past five matches.
Hull were buoyed after none of the clubs in the relegation zone won over the weekend, but Davies does not want to rely on other teams to slip up.
"I always thought we were in the mix, I've never felt like we were out of it," said Davies in the Hull Daily Mail.
"Our league form has to pick up because it's all good saying teams might not catch us but we have to do the job ourselves and make sure we're safe.
"You don't like to think too far ahead and only concentrate on your next game, but looking at the last week of the season we've got Aston Villa, Manchester United and Everton in the space of a week.

Hull next face Swansea at the KC Stadium on Saturday and Davies is expecting a tough game against a team currently above his own club on goal difference.
He added: "It's going to be tough. Swansea had a good win and look as though they've turned a corner. They'll be coming up here confident of getting something but it's up to us to prove them wrong.
"We need to get back to how we were against West Brom (in a 2-0 win), being dogged, strong and winning every second ball.
"We played some good stuff at West Ham and it was difficult to come away with no points. At Stoke, again I felt very comfortable and didn't really feel threatened.
"To come away with nothing from both games is hard to take because we were victims of our downfall. We have to stay positive though and show we're better than that come Swansea."
