Souleymane Doukara has won the Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month award for January.

The striker claimed the award after receiving 69 per cent of the public vote, beating off competition from Ipswich Town forward Tom Lawrence and Nottingham Forest midfielder Ben Osborne.

A headed clearance dropped to Doukara as the Whites faced Nottingham Forest. With impeccable technique and exquisite timing, he struck a volley so sweetly into the top corner, it almost broke the net.

Lead judge and Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman said: "It was an incredible selection of goals in the Championship this month, from silky dribbling from Lawrence, to innovation and technical brilliance from Osbourne.

"But the winner had to be Doukara, for a simply sensational net-busting volley."
