The Perugia midfielder, the first black player to represent Italy at international level, has been the subject of much attention after an impressive campaign in Serie A.
After making 30 appearances, and scoring twice, the 25-year-old is in demand, as his call-up by the Azzurri proved last term.
Perugia's executive general manager Alexander Gaucci admitted there is interest from Italy and abroad, with Leeds credited as one of the rival bidders.
Fellow midfielder Davide Baiocco could also be departing the club, with Inter expected to try to seal a double swoop, although the 26-year-old is another player who has attracted attention from England in the past.
"We have been speaking now for several days about the possible transfer of the two players," confirmed Gaucci. "Not only with Italian clubs, but also foreign ones.
"We are operating in a difficult market but we count on having new developments within the next hours, both in terms of departures and arrivals."
Liverani is under contract with Perugia until 2003 but they are ready to cash in on his talents, as the former Viterbese ace looks for a move to enhance his international aspirations ahead of the World Cup finals.
