Captain Dominic Matteo and Nick Barmby are both struggling to overcome injuries they sustained in the 1-0 win over Manchester United on Saturday.
Both players were forced to come off against The Red Devils at half time - Matteo has suffered a recurrence of a knee injury, whilst Barmby has strained back ligaments.
Lucas Radebe and Eirik Bakke are now on stand-by to replace their team-mates, but Matteo hopes he can take his place on Thursday.
"It was a shame I had to come off, but I've been struggling with injury for the last couple of weeks and it just didn't feel right and I didn't want to jeopardise things for the lads," revealed Matteo.
"I don't think I have trained this season. I'm just playing games at the moment, but I'm going to try and get that sorted this week.
"I'll have a little bit of rest, treatment now for the rest of the week and try to get back training. We will then see what happens, but I'm looking forward to Europe again."
