The former Manchester United trainee fears that the Blackpool squad is set to be decimated with 13 players out of contract in the summer.
Wellens admitted that the loss of key players could result in him considering his own future despite having another year to run on his contract.
"I am not sure if I want to stay. There's lots going on at the moment in terms of players' contracts," admitted Wellens.
"But it looks like Scott (Taylor) and John (Murphy) are leaving, and if that is the case there is no point in me staying."
Meanwhile, Blackpool boss Steve McMahon has handed trials to three players as he looks at bolstering his squad for next season.
Preston striker Fola Onibuje, Leeds goalkeeper Shaun Allaway and Everton youngster Robert Booth are all currently training at Bloomfield Road and are set to feature in the reserves so that McMahon can cast an eye over them in action.
