Leeds United striker Richard Cresswell is out of action for three months.Leeds United manager Kevin Blackwell is unlikely to be able call upon striker Richard Cresswell's services before Christmas.
The £1.15 million capture was injured in Leeds' recent 3-1 win over Derby and now it has been confirmed the 28-year-old has ruptured a knee ligament.
It had been feared Cresswell could miss the remainder of the season, however he will not require surgery and will only be unavailable for three months.
The former Sheffield Wednesday hit-man got his Leeds career up and running with a brace against Rotherham, but will now have a stint on the sidelines.
"Richard is absolutely distraught at the moment because he's not been injured for five or six years, then he comes to Leeds and three weeks into his career he's done his knee in," Blackwell told the club's official website.
"The important thing for Richard now is that he comes to terms with the fact that he's going to be out for a while and doesn't try and rush things."
