Leeds United could be set to join the hunt for Stevenage Borough starlet George Boyd.Leeds United manager Kevin Blackwell could be set to join the hunt for Stevenage Borough starlet George Boyd.
The 20-year-old has received glowing praise from chief scout Ian McNeill for his displays with high-flyers Stevenage in the Nationwide Conference.
McNeill has likened Boyd to Arsenal's left-sided winger Jose Antonio Reyes in his ability to go past opponents along with possessing a deadly strike.
Blackwell has Eddie Lewis and Danny Pugh as left wing options, although that is unlikely to deter him swelling his ranks when the transfer window reopens.
Leeds are likely to face stiff competition for Boyd's signature in January with Swansea City and Sheffield United also reportedly interested.
"I've seen Boyd and he looks a very talented boy," explained McNeill to the Non-League Paper.
"I'm a great admirer of Arsenal's Reyes - and this is a huge statement to make but Boyd reminds me of him.
"Assistant Sam Ellis was given a recommendation about Boyd and I've followed that up.
"My report is in and it's now up to Kevin Blackwell and Sam."
While scouting Boyd, McNeill was also impressed by Stevenage winger Jon Nurse.
"It's not just Boyd that has impressed me," he added.
"Jon Nurse is a winger who can go past people as well and you need a winger to do that."
