Cress to undergo op

Leeds United's Richard Cresswell is set to miss the next six weeks of action.

Leeds United striker Richard Cresswell will be out of action for six weeks when he undergoes an operation on Monday.

It had been thought the former Preston striker could soldier on for the remainder of the campaign despite injuring his knee in training.

Cresswell featured in Leeds' 2-1 win over Watford last Tuesday, but did not figure against Leicester after suffering a fresh setback in training.

The 29-year-old has continued to suffer discomfort from the cartilage problem and will now undergo an operation to relieve the pain.

Leeds boss Kevin Blackwell is hoping Cresswell, who has already missed three months this season, may return within a month.
