Jermaine Beckford has revealed that he snubbed a number of other clubs to sign for Leeds.
Beckford's goalscoring exploits for Wealdstone caught the eyes of a number of scouts and it is believed that the Ryman League club were inundated with offers.
The striker says it is flattering to be chased by a number of clubs, but feels Leeds is the best place for his development.
"There were a few clubs that came in for me and I am very grateful to them for showing interest in me but I thought Leeds would be the best club in the long run," he said. "They are a massive club and have managed to produce some great players."
Beckford, who signed a three-and-a-half-year deal on Thursday, admitted he was a bag of nerves when he arrived in West Yorkshire, but was welcomed to the club by the rest of the squad.
"I feel totally relaxed, which is a good thing," he told Sky Sports News.
"I thought I would be nervous, trying to impress everyone and I thought the pressure would be on, but everyone is so laid back it has made things easy for me to get involved."
Beckford admits he is living the dream at present, as he added: "My mum and dad were very emotional and we can't believe it is happening.
"It's a dream come true because this is something I wanted to happen since I first started playing football."
