Rovers missed out on Beckford

Ronnie Moore has revealed Tranmere attempted to sign Jermaine Beckford.

Tranmere Rovers boss Ronnie Moore has revealed the club attempted to sign Jermaine Beckford.

Carlisle United landed the Leeds United striker last Thursday on a month's loan, but they were not the only club in for his services.

Tranmere also made a move for the former Wealdstone forward, however, they arrived too late in the day to land the striker.

"We just missed out with Beckford, he went to Carlisle," Moore told the club's official website.

"The deal was more or less done when we tried to stop him from going."

Beckford made a bright start to his Carlisle career, netting on his debut in a 2-1 loss to Millwall.
