Former Leeds United captain Paul Butler has left the club after his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.
The ex-Sunderland and Wolves defender was one of Kevin Blackwell's first signings back in the summer of 2004 and was handed the captain's armband.
However, following Dennis Wise's appointment in October, Butler lost the captaincy and had spent the past two months on loan with Milton Keynes Dons.
Butler's loan switch to the League Two outfit ended on New Year's Day and now he is free to find a new club after his Elland Road deal was ended.
Meanwhile, experienced defender Sean Gregan is back at Leeds following a spell with League One high-flyers Oldham Athletic.
