Wise hoping captain not ruled out of action

Leeds United are sweating over the fitness of captain Jonathan Douglas after he injured his knee in Saturday's 1-1 draw at Walsall. The former Blackburn midfielder twisted his knee late on at The Bescot and Leeds fear he could now miss a large slice of the festive fixture list. Manager Dennis Wise is crossing his fingers the Republic of Ireland international's injury is not as bad as first feared, which could mean a month on the sidelines. "He caught his foot in the ground and twisted his knee. It's a big disappointment if we do lose him," Wise told the Yorkshire Evening Post. "He's important to us. His overall work rate is fantastic and he'll stick his head, foot and everything else in front of the ball when he has to. "Hopefully it won't be as bad as we think it's going to be. He's quite relaxed but we've just got to make sure he's sorted properly."
