Leeds United boss Simon Grayson admits Frazer Richardson and Jonathan Douglas will have to wait to secure new contracts.
Richardson and Douglas' current deals expire at the end of the season, but Grayson will not rush into offering extensions.
Douglas has recently expressed his desire to stay at Elland Road, having joined the club in 2005 from Blackburn Rovers, originally on loan.
Grayson has discussed the situation with the players, but wants to see if Leeds win promotion to the Championship before deciding on his squad's future.
"Talks have not started because we don't know what division we will be in next season," said Grayson in the Daily Star Sunday.
"The players are aware of that and are relaxed about the situation.
"If we go up they will be desperate to stay."
