Southend's Steve Tilson is League Two Manager of the Month for March.Steve Tilson has won the title of League Two Manager of the Month for March after guiding Southend to an unbeaten four weeks.
The Roots Hall faithful have seen their side rise to second place in the table thanks to their excellent run of form, and they currently lie just one point behind leaders Yeovil.
Tilson's remarkable run has been due in no small part to striker Freddy Eastwood's blistering recent performances, as the former Gray's Athletic man has netted in his last seven games.
The Shrimpers boss was delighted with the progress his team have made, although was quick to emphasise that they still had to focus on the remaining six league fixtures.
"It's a good time to go unbeaten, it would be nice to get Manager of the Month next month as that would guarantee us promotion," Tilson told Sky Sports News.
Tilson reserved special praise for Eastwood after he scored in every game in March, but also credited his whole squad for the team spirit that he believes is key to their recent success.
"Freddy's come in and scored 20 goals in 31 games so obviously that's been a massive benefit for us," Tilson continued.
"But he also seems to have triggered off Wayne Gray who's now got twelve goals, and on top of that probably one of the biggest pluses is we've stopped conceding goals.
"At the end of the day the players go out there and they are the ones who are playing and getting the results, and they've been different class.
"We've got such a good togetherness and team spirit and I think that's stood us in good stead."
Brian Laws of Scunthorpe, Dave Hodgson of Darlington and Graham Barrow of Bury were the other nominees for the award.
