Magpies swoop twice

Notts County have signed Brian O'Callaghan from Kevlavik.

Notts County have made two additions to their staff, with Brian O'Callaghan bolstering the playing side and Ross Maclaren coming in as Gudjon Thordarson's assistant manager.

O'Callaghan has joined The Magpies on a free transfer, and is Thordarson's second summer signing after penning an initial one-year deal at Meadow Lane.

The Irish defender had been plying his trade in Iceland at Kevlavik, but the 24 year-old has decided it is time to return to English football.

Maclaren has also penned a one-year deal, after leaving Southend United to become Thordarson's number two.

And Maclaren brings plenty of experience with him, after a previous spell as assistant manager to John Gregory at Derby County.
