Southend have rejected a bid from Bournemouth to take striker Lee Bradbury on loan.
Southend United have rejected a bid from Bournemouth to take striker Lee Bradbury on loan.
The League One strugglers are eager to bolster their strike force as they look to emerge from a slump in form that new boss Kevin Bond has failed to stem.
Bond is well aware of Bradbury's capabilities having worked with the 31-year-old at Portsmouth but his request to be reunited with the former Manchester City hit-man has fallen on deaf ears at Roots Hall.
With Southend struggling themselves at the wrong end of the Championship table, Shrimpers chief Steve Tilson is reticent to allow any of his squad move out of the club as he searches for a winning formula.
Bradbury has missed the past three months of the season with a hip injury and as he is now fit and raring to go Tilson feels he could yet play a crucial role in his plans for the remainder of the campaign.
Meanwhile, Southend's wantaway midfielder Luke Guttridge has moved to League One strugglers Leyton Orient in a loan deal.
Earlier in the season and Guttridge was reported to have slapped in a transfer request and although this has since been denied by the player's agent, he has now moved to pastures new.
"Luke needs games at the moment and presently he isn't getting that here," Tilson told the club's official website.
"We'll see how things go and take a look at it again in January."
