Coventry City striker Freddy Eastwood will be sidelined for the next two months after undergoing a knee operation.
Eastwood started the season in good form after scoring twice in four Championship appearances, but has not featured since the international break earlier this month.
He has now had surgery on his knee and Sky Blues boss Aidy Boothroyd admits losing Eastwood is a blow for the club.
"He's had an operation to sort some cartilage out," Boothroyd told the Coventry Telegraph.
"It's disappointing because he did really well at the start of the season and I've been really impressed with him
"His work-rate, attitude and willingness to chase lost causes has really impressed me and that's why I definitely want him on the bus to be part of what we are trying to do here. So it's a blow, but we have to ride it out."
Eastwood is likely to be replaced by new Sky Blues signing Marlon King in the squad for Saturday's game against Preston.
