Peterborough United have sold Josh Simpson to Crawley Town for an undisclosed fee following the midfielder's loan spell at Southend United.
Simpson was recalled from his stint at Southend on Thursday and has now signed a two-and-a-half year contract at ambitious Conference club Crawley.
Southend had been priced out of a permanent deal for Simpson and Crawley boss Steve Evans expressed his delight at winning the chase for the 23-year-old.
Evans told the club's official website: "Many times in the last week I thought we had lost out on getting Josh Simpson here but we kept working hard and hoping we could land him.
"The lad was fortunate in that he had several clubs wanting him and it was a big decision for him but he really does believe he has made the right choice and I certainly do.
"The reality is that he could have stayed at Peterborough United and earned a lot more money there but the kid wants to play first-team football and feel valued, he will get both here."
