Kane Ferdinand is in talks with Southend over a new and improved contract, according to manager Paul Sturrock.
The 18-year-old has performed impressively in United's last eight games and Sturrock wants to reward him with an improved deal. "We're in talks with Kane about upgrading his contract," Sturrock told the Echo. "He's still on a youth team contract at the moment but has done very well in the first team. "I think it says it all when you see that our results have improved since he came into the team."
