Brown bemoans Southend luck

Phil Brown felt he should have celebrated his first win in charge of Southend after a 0-0 home draw against Bristol Rovers.

Brown has now gone five games without a victory since taking over from Paul Sturrock. But the Shrimpers had more than enough chances to have broken that duck against the Pirates. "We should have scored two of three goals and that's the most frustrating thing about this game," said Brown. "We defended well and keeping the first clean sheet since I've come here was a huge positive for me. "I think centre-backs win you games and strikers decide by how many but we couldn't finish the excellent opportunities we made. "We should have made their keeper work more because we put three good chances wide of the goal and we're disappointed about that. "But, while I know the headlines will be about me not having won for five games, I actually thought it was a good performance and the formation we used with the three men in midfield worked well. "Freddy (Eastwood) looked bright too and I probably made a mistake taking him off because Bristol Rovers got back in to it a little bit more after that change."
