JOE KINNEAR has confirmed to planetfootball.com that Northampton Town have approached him over the possibility of a swap deal involving Steve Howard and Jamie Forrester.
The Luton boss admitted that, as we exclusively revealed yesterday, talks had taken place between himself and Kevin Wilson, although it is by no means inevitable that a deal will take place.
"Northampton have approached me and it's something that me and Kevin are mulling over at the minute," he told us.
"That doesn't neccessarily mean that anything will happen though."
Kinnear also explained that the press had blown out of proportion the events which led to Howard (pictured) being left out of the side which played Lincoln City.
"There was no fighting, nothing like that at all. It was all just silly stuff about taking a penalty. Aaron Skelton normally takes them for us but Stevie fancied it and missed.
"I'd already told him that I wanted Aaron to take it, and he disobeyed me. I told him after the game that I wouldn't have that and he was dropped for one match as a punishment - that's it.
"I'm by no means desperate to get Steve out of here - he'll be playing again on Saturday.
"He's got goals wherever he's been but he's been struggling just lately so he's a bit frustrated. He just saw a red mist, that's all.
"He's a good lad - there's no problem with him at all. In the dressing-room he apologised to me straight away - he just came up to me and told me that he was sorry about what had happened."
