Wray refutes Ritchie sale

Swindon interim chairman Jeremy Wray insists the imminent arrival of Luke Rooney will not pave the way for Matt Ritchie to leave.

Winger Rooney is set to sign for the Robins from Gillingham on Tuesday after the two clubs agreed what is reported to be a reported six-figure deal, and the 29-year-old will have to fight for a place in the Swindon side with Ritchie - who has been in sensational form this season. The Wiltshire outfit have already turned down two bids from Bournemouth for the former Portsmouth man, and fans fear Rooney could be his immediate replacement. However, Wray has moved to quell those concerns. He told the Swindon Advertiser: "This deal should not be seen as a replacement for anyone, because we have no intention of allowing players to leave. "The business we do over this period will be to ensure that Swindon Town get promoted at the first time of asking."
