Tom Soares has joined AFC Wimbledon for an undisclosed fee after leaving fellow League One side Bury.

Soares joined Bury in 2012 and etched his name into club folklore after scoring the winner against Tranmere on the final day of the 2014-15 season to clinch automatic promotion to League One for the Shakers.

During his five-year stay at Gigg Lane, he made a total of 187 appearances, scoring 22 goals, including a dramatic 93rd-minute equaliser against Walsall last weekend.

The Reading-born midfielder came through the ranks at the Crystal Palace academy and made 156 first-team appearances for the Eagles before joining Stoke in 2008.
