Chris Powell is relishing being back in management but is acutely aware he will be judged on results.
Powell has got off to a flying start as Southend boss, becoming the first manager in the club's history to win his opening three matches in charge.
But the former Charlton boss, who spent five-and-a-half years as a player at Southend, says he never doubted his ability despite not managing a team since he left Huddersfield in November 2015.
"I'm loving it, I'm loving being back, but results help - ultimately that's what we are being judged on," Powell told Sky Sports News.
"Any manager, at any level, that's what you are judged on but it's been great to come back in.
"I never lost belief that I would manage again and I had a couple of interviews. I didn't get the jobs which is fine because ultimately you want to be interviewed.
"I turned down a couple of opportunities which weren't right for me and that's because I had belief in myself in terms of where I wanted to manage."
