Derby have completed a deal to sign 23-year-old striker Jack Marriott from Peterborough.

Sky Sports News understands Derby will make an initial payment of £3m, with significant add-ons that could see the fee rise to £5m.

Derby boss Frank Lampard told the club's website: "I'm delighted that Jack has chosen to join Derby and I believe this is another great addition to our squad.

"Goalscorers are always sought-after and Jack certainly has been in demand. He scored an incredible amount of goals in League One last year and, at 23, we know he can still develop and get better too. He certainly strikes me as a player that is really determined to improve.

"To bring players through the door that are sought-after hopefully shows that people are excited about what we are trying to do here."

Marriott, who also attracted interest from Bristol City, Nottingham Forest and Rangers, enjoyed a sensational debut season with Peterborough in Sky Bet League One after joining them from Luton last summer, scoring 33 times in all competitions.

The 23-year-old started his career at Ipswich and was sent on loan six times before joining Luton on a permanent basis in 2015.

Sky Sports News also understands Derby's move for Ipswich striker Martyn Waghorn may only proceed if the club can complete the sale of Matej Vydra to Leeds.

Waghorn would cost Derby an initial £4m fee, with that figure doubling if the forward helps Frank Lampard's side win promotion to the Premier League.

Derby are wary of Financial Fair Play restrictions and are reluctant to complete the deal for Waghorn until they have offloaded Vydra.
