Walsall bring in Weston

Wales international Rhys Weston has signed for Walsall on a free transfer.

Wales international Rhys Weston has signed for Walsall on a free transfer.

The defender was released by Port Vale at the end of last season after only signing for Martin Foyle's side earlier in the year.

He has been training with Walsall during the early stages of pre-season and has now been given a 12-month contract.

Saddlers boss Richard Money is confident the former Arsenal youngster can make an impact with his promoted side in the new season.

"Rhys is a player with good pedigree," Money told the club's official website.

"He has been training with us for the last week or so, and we're delighted that he has signed a one-year deal here.

"He has played the majority of his career at Championship level, but has also experienced life in League One last season with Port Vale.

"We are happy to have him on board and I am sure he will play an important role during the coming season."
