Defender out for eight weeks with fractured fibula

Brighton & Hove Albion have lost defender Joel Lynch for up to two months with a fractured fibula. The teenager picked up the problem during his side's 3-0 win over Millwall in League One last week. Though Lynch will not require surgery on the injury, he will likely be out of the Brighton team until November. "Joel twisted his knee as he went to clear the ball," physio Malcolm Stuart told the club's official website. "But a scan revealed a hairline fracture at the top of the fibula, while the ligament has also been disturbed. "Joel won't be going into plaster, but he'll be out for between six and eight weeks. He won't need surgery, it's just a matter of time and rehabilitation." Lynch has made four appearances for Brighton this season, having been a regular in manager Dean Wilkins' plans last term.
