Ashley Westwood believes he has what it takes to persuade Port Vale boss Martin Foyle he is worthy of a permanent deal at the League One club.
The 31-year-old defender moved to Vale Park from Chester City on loan at the end of last month.
The former Crewe, Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford player has already impressed in his first couple of outings for Vale and has his sights set on extending his stay.
Westwood said: "I've signed on loan until January 5 and hopefully I can give a good account of myself and make that longer. I have the opportunity now and the ball`s in my court.
"It`s up to me to give some performances that will make the manager think I`m worthy of a contract. Hopefully I can do that.
"I`d played just four pre-season friendlies so I found it tough at Bournemouth last week.
"But I`ve had a good couple of weeks of training behind me and now I`m looking to go from strength to strength."
