Steve Foley has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing back surgery.

Cherries midfielder facing more time on the sidelines

Bournemouth's Steve Foley has been ruled out for the remainder of the season after undergoing back surgery. The injury has kept the midfielder on the sidelines since September 2006 and having now been forced to go under the knife any potential return looks set to be at least another 12 weeks away. The Irishman joined the club on a permanent deal in 2006 after having previously spent a spell on loan at The Fitness First Stadium from Aston Villa. After being unavailable for such a substantial period of time there is now a possibility that Foley may never represent the Cherries again.

Kick start career

"Given the period of time Foley has been absent for, the operation ends any chance of him playing again this season," read a statement on the club's official website. "Physio Steve Hard hopes Foley will be able to kick start his career from the start of July, be it here or at another club."
