Luke Beckett looks set to stay at Huddersfield Town after a move to York City failed to come to fruition.
The striker has been told he can leave Huddersfield over the summer by recently-appointed manager Stan Ternent.
Bradford City have made an approach for the experienced front man, while Blue Square Premier club York had also expressed an interest.
However, an imminent move away from the Galpharm Stadium appears unlikely after Beckett failed to reach an agreement on the final 12 months of his Huddersfield contract.
York director Sophie McGill told York Press: "(Manager) Colin Walker and (managing director) Jason McGill have been in talks with Luke Beckett and were hopeful that they could complete the signing but, as far as we are aware, he will stay at Huddersfield now.
"It's a shame the deal hasn't come off as he would have been a fantastic signing for City because we are confident he would have provided a lot of goals for the team.
"Luke has a very good relationship with Colin and was very keen to come to York."
