Oldham Athletic have confirmed that Bury midfielder Dale Stephens will join them on 1st July.
The promising midfielder's existing contract expires at the end of June and he has rejected fresh terms at Gigg Lane to move to Boundary Park.
Stephens has shown considerable promise since breaking into Bury's first team ranks and they will be entitled for a fee - likely to be decided by tribunal - for the 19-year-old.
Oldham chief executive Alan Hardy told the club's official website: "Dale is a signing for the future. He is still a young lad and has only a few first team games under his belt, so it is likely that he will not figure in the first team starting line-up at the beginning of the season."
Brighter news for Bury is that midfielder David Buchanan has agreed new terms to stay at the club and will sign his deal when he returns from holiday, while star striker Andy Bishop is remaining tight-lipped over speculation with regards his future.
The prolific 25-year-old has been linked with a switch to North West neighbours Preston or Burnley but is refusing to have his head turned by paper talk.
"I have a stock answer now," he told the Bury Times. "I say the same thing time and time again, but I don't let speculation bother me.
"It might have done in the past, but now I just think it is nothing to do with me.
"I'm happy here - the fans know that - and all I want to do is have a rest before coming back for pre-season.
"It's nice being linked with clubs but I just get on with it. Everything else is down to the club."
