Veteran pair Gary Hart and Kerry Mayo have been handed a Brighton lifeline by new boss Micky Adams.
The pair, who have played more than 750 games between them for the Seagulls, were told they were free to leave by previous boss Dean Wilkins at the end of last season.
But 31-year-old Mayo and Hart, 32, have now been offered new one-year deals by the League One outfit after impressing Adams in pre-season.
Excellent servants
Adams told the club's official website: "Harty and Kerry have been excellent servants to this club, but this is not a sentimental gesture.
"If I didn't think they could add something to the squad this season they would not have been offered new deals.
"They have both demonstrated throughout pre-season that they still have plenty to offer Brighton & Hove Albion."
