Midfielder set to be offered permanent deal

Northampton have confirmed that they are set to open discussions with Luke Guttridge over a permanent contract at Sixfields. The midfielder recently spent a trial period with the League One club and impressed Stuart Gray enough to persuade the Cobblers coach to make a move for his services. The 26-year-old put in a solid display during a 1-0 friendly defeat to West Brom on Tuesday night. "I will sit down and have a chat with Luke Guttridge and his agent," Gray said. "He has qualities but he is a little off the pace at the moment, although we can work on that. "We have released Matt Halliday but we will talk to Luke and see where we go."
